8th Annual Civil War Christmas
at St. John's Episcopal Church

Oakdale, NY

December 13, 2025

We returned to historic St. John's Church in Oakdale, LI at the invite of the organizers, the Oakdale Historical Society. Fortunately, we added a firepit this year which helped considerably for all of those outside of the church. This was definitely the most well attended year we ever had for this event and the traditional participants returned: The Idle Hour Elementary Chorus, The Victorian Christmas Carolers (by the Bay Area Friends of the Fine Arts), the Victorian Baking Contest, Soldier's Q & A (with the 67th NY and 30th VA), and finally Chaplain George Munkenbeck's Civil War Christmas service. And we just managed to wrap up the night before a storm dumped about eight inches of snow on Long Island.
