Ulysses S. Grant's 200th Birthday Celebration
at General Grant's National Memorial

New York, NY

April 30, 2022

While the main ceremony commemorating General Ulysses S. Grant's birth took place on Wednesday the 27th (his actual birthday), the NPS continued their celebrations by inviting Civil War Reenactors to teach the public on the following Saturday. Your Correspondent was the only one able to make Grant's 200th birthday party at Grant's Tomb in Upper Manhattan. Joining him were two members each from the 69th NY and 119th NY. We set up shop and did our usual Living History demos for the visitors. We were joined by local period musician Linda Russell, who gave a concert at 1pm. Best of all, we had perfect Spring weather that brought out the crowds by the afternoon.
