Camp Ernest
Winter Camp 2007-2008
Riverhead, NY
December 29 - 30, 2007

Seized by inspiration, our Pvt Lenihan (EJ Kuhlmann) established a Winter Camp in his own backyard and graciously named it Camp Ernest in honor of our fallen comrade. Privates Lenihan and Neall cleared out a section of woods, erected a wall tent with stove, and hand fashioned all the furnishing including two sets of bunk beds, shelves, and tables. Keeping things creative, the two privates invented the '13th NY' so we could try out different roles. Surrounded as we were by houses, the woods gave us plenty of cover and a brilliant spot for practicing picket duty. We even came under 'attack' from a very inventive enemy...but their identity shall remain confidential. The two outings pictured here were from the last weekends in December 2007 and January 2008 respectively. We had such a great time, no doubt Camp Ernest will rise once again next winter.
