Educational Program
Smithtown Historical Society

Sayville, NY

May 17, 2019

We returned to Smithtown Historical Society for the longest running Civil War school program on Long Island. For the first time in our history, the First Long Island took a page from Stonewall Jackson's playbook and we split forces... one contingent went to fight at New Market this same weekend... while another attended Smithtown to carry out the tradition. Other perennial members were present: the 9th VA, the 30th VA, 10th NY Cavalry, and 57th VA. Fortunately, the weather cooperated almost to the very end when we got spritzed from above... thankfully the canvas was packed (mostly) dry.
