155th Anniversary
The Battle of New Market

New Market, VA

May 18 - 19, 2019

While one contingent of the First Long Island attended the annual Smithtown Historical Society school program, another traveled 10 hours into the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia to fight in the 155th Anniversary of the Battle of New Market. Our small yet dedicated force was led by First Sergeant Moyer (Jeff Speight) and included Corporals Andrew & Sylvester Kane (Mike & Ken Boyle), Pvt. Greg Frank, and Pvt. Dan Margolis. Falling in with a hodgepodge of other regiments in the 2nd Federal Rifles, the 67th NY became part of 10th Company for the weekend. And while conditions were hot & humid for this May weekend, thankfully, there were no casualties in the ranks. And we had the honor of fighting on the actual battlefield of New Market.
