Located on Route 50 (following the Old Santa Fe Trail) are the two lone state momuments
dedicated to the Battle of Glorieta Pass

The first (at left) honors the Texas Volunteers and was erected October 1, 1939
by the Texas Division of the Daughters of the Confederacy

The Texas memorial stood alone until in the early 1990s when
Colorado State Represenative Tom Ratterree visited here and saw there was no corresponding monument to the Colorado soldiers.
Through his efforts the momument to the Colorado Volunteers (at right) was erected and dedicated on March 27, 1993...
