4th Annual Civil War Weekend
at the Grange

Sayville, NY

October 27, 2012

While the approach of Hurricane Sandy forced us to cancel Sunday's program we nevertheless milked as much possible out of the Saturday and fielded our largest Company force ever of 27 men. Not the least bit deterred by the impending storm, we were joined by our usual Grangemates including the 9th Virginia, 30th Virginia, and Company H of the 14th Brooklyn. The Florance Drum Company also returned as did the Sons and Daughters of Union Veterans. And our friends from the 10th New York Cavalry joined us for the first time in two years. We had the added challenge of managing everything on our own this year but public and participant were satisfied by the end of Saturday and we proved we could pull this off. Let's hope for better weather next year. Special thanks to local photographer Tim Butler who provided a fascinating perspective with this camera.
