The 119th NY invited the 67th NY and the 14th Brooklyn to join them in dedicating a post office in Babylon to a soldier that died in Iraq. SPC Jacob S. Fletcher of Babylon was killed November 14, 2003 by an improvised explosive device in Samara. He was attached to Co C.2-503rd Infantry, 173rd Airborne Brigade. He was 28 years old. Jacob and his father and brother used to visit Old Bethpage and watch the Civil War events on the grounds. There were plenty of politicos present including Steve Levy (the County Executive), & Congressment Peter King and Steve Israel from Congress. Babylon's Mayor Scordino was present and there was even an appearance by ex-Senator Alfonse D'Amato. There was a presentation of colors, a moment of silence, playing of bagpipes, the actual dedication of the post office, a 21-gun salute from modern day soldiers, and then Taps.
