The Battle of Rounds Swamp Road
3rd Annual Civil War Reenactment
at Old Bethpage Village Restoration

Old Bethpage, NY

July 23 - 24, 2005

The 3rd Civil War Reenactment at Old Bethapge Village Restoration was one of those rare events when everything clicked including fantastic weather (for late July). Attendance was unrivaled with full turnouts from not only us local groups (the 67th NY, 119th NY, 52nd NY, 14th Brooklyn, 9th VA, 30th VA, 57th VA, Jackson's Flying Artillery, & 10th NY Cavalry) but we pulled in regiments from out of state such as the 5th NY (Duryee's Zouaves). Thanks to Frank Bradford, we had a massive Cavalry presence never seen on Long Island with probably 30 horse soldiers. The weekend's scenario revolved around the fictional southern Pennsylvania town of Round Swamp in the Summer of '63 when Lee's forces once again invaded northwards. The battle, especially the street fighting in town, was so intense that we literally ran out of ammo by Sunday afternoon. And for entertainment, we had David Kincaid playing on Saturday evening. A great time was truly had by all.
