Visiting Pamplin Historical Park

Petersburg, VA

June 19 - 20, 1999

Several of our members were traveling to the 135th Anniversary of Spotsylvania in Virginia only to have the event washed out by torrential rains. Instead of heading home, the men opted to make use of their time in Virginia viisting sites in Richmond, such as the Confederate White House. We also visited the privately run Pamplin Historical Park located in Petersburg that includes the actual siege-works that were created in 1864-1865. And there's a segment within the park where the original 65th NY (that included veterans of the 67th NY) made the final assault upon the Confederates on April 2, 1865 that ended the seige and lead to the fall of Petersburg and Richmond.
