GRANGE X
10th Annual Civil War Weekend at the Grange

Sayville, NY

September 15 - 16, 2018

We never imagined getting to our 10th year of running our annual Civil War Weekend at the Grange. There was no better anniversary gift than the fine weather and great turnout. Again, we had no funding but this year we raised money selling ads on our event programs and by expanding our Adopt-A-Book feature. Unfortunately, we still had no 10th New York Cavalry due to their committment to another event but we had our usual friends including Co. H, 14th Brooklyn, the 9th Virginia, the 30th Virginia, and the Sons & and Daughters of Union Veterans. We also welcomed back our Sutler, the Florance Drum Company for the Saturday. As for artillery, our cup runneth over for we had not only Lee's Light Artillery but aslo Jeff Cohen's 6th NY Independent Battery!. It was loud weekend and we thank our neighbors for not shutting us down. This was our first Grange event without our Captain however our Lieutenant George Stillwell (Tom Demaria) did a splendid job leading the Union forces for the weekend. And our Commissary department served us such feasts at mealtime that we probably gained weight over the weekend. Local videographer Chris Lauterbach captured a great deal of our Saturday event on video that you can see below.
